Job Summary

Upholds the integrity of the general ledger by applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and ensuring effective controls. Monitors compliance with externally imposed regulations and university policies to mitigate risk. Ensures that accounting transactions are accurately represented and that financial information effectively supports decision-making. Summarizes, analyzes, monitors, reconciles, and reports on financial information to reflect the condition of the organization.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.

Combinations of related education and experience may be considered.

Proficient communication skills. Maintains a high degree of professionalism. Demonstrated time management and priority setting skills. Demonstrates a high commitment to quality. Possesses flexibility to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment. Seeks to acquire knowledge in area of specialty. Highly thorough and dependable. Demonstrates a high level of accuracy, even under pressure. Analytical ability and a high level of numerical competence. Proficiency in IT and demonstrated skill in using Excel to produce financial reports. Ability to reconcile financial ledgers and process accounts payable/receivable. Organizational skills and ability to manage deadlines. High level of attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to communicate effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

Two years of relevant experience.

Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

Working Conditions / Demands

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
