The Controller will work closely with the CFO to promote a strong internal control environment and an exemplary financial reporting function that support a rapidly expanding business. At Hopebridge, the Controller manages the accounting and financial reporting functions, as well as all treasury, payables, and tax activity. The Controller will be highly involved in payroll, accounts receivables, and budgeting activity, though those are not directly reporting functions. As Hopebridge continues to expand, the Controller will lead the rollout of numerous growth initiatives such as an accounting system change, expanded internal operational reporting, and possibly one day the integration of financial functions of an acquired organization. More than just safeguarding assets and getting through audits with minimal adjustments, the Controller will be a partner to the CFO in identifying and executing opportunities for improved processes and efficiencies.

Essential Functions

  • Lead the activities of the accounting department, ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of monthly and annual financial statements, tax returns, and internal reports as needed. The Controller is also responsible for the successful completion of financial report and tax audits.
  • Direct all disbursement activities, including accounts payable, employee reimbursement, payroll processing and payroll taxes.
  • Partner closely with the accounts receivable department to ensure the accurate and timely management of all accounts receivable components including billings, cash and remittance posting, etc.
  • Maintain compliance with all credit agreement provisions including reporting deadlines, borrowing base activity, and required notifications.
  • Maintain strong internal controls and compliance with GAAP.
  • Lead team through annual financial statement audits with the goal of achieving unmodified opinions, minimal adjustments, and no material weaknesses or deficiencies.
  • Lead cash flow projection process and reporting to meet operating needs.
  • Manage a portfolio of leased properties, ensuring that lease accounting, insurance requirements, and other contractual obligations are met.
  • Work with HR and Payroll to ensure proper reconciliations and reserves are in place for a self-insured health plan and other benefits.
  • Ensure corporate income, property, and withholding tax compliance.
  • Establish and maintain systems and controls that preserve the integrity of all financial systems, processes, and data.
  • Respond to CFO as assigned with accurate and timely work.
  • Participate in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of special reports.
  • Communicate with co-workers, management, clients and others in a courteous and professional manner.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position is responsible for managing the accounting and accounts receivable departments.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.


This position requires limited travel.



  • Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, or finance.
  • CPA certification or equivalent
  • Ten years of hands-on accounting managerial experience.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • MBA
  • Prior PE portfolio company experience
  • Previous successful ERP migrations

Physical Demands

This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.
