COMPREHENSIVE CARE AND GENERAL (IN-DSCC-IUINA)
The Indiana University School of Dentistry has been advancing oral health in the state and beyond since 1879, when it was founded as the Indiana Dental College. Over the past 140 years, we've become a national leader in preparing oral health professionals, conducting innovative research that has an impact on patients and the profession, and providing patient-centered care.
Provides oral care such as dental prophylaxis, scaling, radiographs, and sealants to patients and offers preventive education material to assist with developing and maintaining good oral health.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Delivers direct patient care using established dental hygienist procedures. Performs dental prophylaxis, scaling and root planning. Develops and implements individualized dental care plans for patients.
- Takes digital radiographs.
-Uses patient screening procedures to include medical history review and dental charting. Records and reports pertinent observations.
- Sterilizes instruments and sets up and prepares dental equipment and instrumentation in accordance with established regulations and guidelines.
-Perform preventive care with pit and fissure sealants.
Associate's degree in dental hygiene and completion of a two-year accredited dental hygiene program.
Dental hygiene license in the State of Indiana.
Demonstrates excellent judgment and decision making skills. Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner. Demonstrates a high commitment to quality. Effective interpersonal skills. Articulate and responsive to colleagues. Possesses strong technical aptitude. Ability to simultaneously handle multiple priorities. Computer experience. Strong communication skills. Knowledge of dentistry and ability to explain techniques to patients. Understanding customer service and interacting with a diverse population of patients. Ability to work well under pressure and take the initiative to assist others when necessary.
Experience with Axium.
Working Conditions / Demands
Extensive time in a stationary position. Ability to remain chairside for dental procedures. Ability to operate all dental equipment and supplies. Ability to operate computer and appropriate software. Ability to manuever through a busy clinic. Up to date immunizations required.
