We are seeking a General Manager, International Trucks\u2013 Used Truck Center (UTC) in Indianapolis, IN to oversee complete center operations with the goal of increasing the centers customer base and unit volume.

About the position 

General Manager is responsible for achieving wholesale and retail sales objectives for used trucks at our Indianapolis UTC. This is accomplished by managing an outside sales-force dedicated to selling primarily International medium duty and class 8 trucks to fleets and owner operators. In addition, the General Manager oversees wholesale operations within the territory.  

  • As a level in the Management Track, work is primarily accomplished through setting direction, deploying resources, and managing others. 
  • Focus effort on coaching team to win, hour to hour, day to day, while orchestrating effective go to market sales strategies aimed at exceeding annual goals.
  • Involved in larger or more complex sales deals. Develops plans and participates in strategic and tactical planning. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
  • Manages policy and strategy implementation and control; has short-term operational/tactical responsibilities
  • Manages Used Truck Sales Consultants, helping coordinate their activities with responsibility for results; including costs, methods and staffing.   
  • Frequently interacts with supervisors, and peers within other company divisions. Meets customers and interacts with corporate support units. May lead cooperative efforts of a project team.

About the Used Truck Organization (UTO)

Navistar’s UTO is a vital business unit which operates 14 Used Truck Centers (UTC’s) throughout North America. The UTO manages considerable assets gained primarily though New Truck trade packages with major U.S. fleet companies. Our UTC’s engage in significant retail, wholesale and export transactions. The majority of inventory consists of our International brand medium duty and class 8 trucks, with a wide assortment of competing brands

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least 8 years of sales experience
  • At least 2 years of management experience


  • Master’s degree
  • At least 6 years of sales experience
  • At least 2 years of management experience


  • At least 10 years of sales experience
  • At least 2 years of management experience

Additional Requirements

  • Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Navistar does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)

Desired Skills

  • Minimum of (5) Years of truck sales or related sales management experience is preferred
  • Demonstrate high level of sales acumen including ability to manage the work of others
  • Working knowledge of truck specifications
  • Ability to Travel 25%
