Within the IU School of Medicine, HR provides consulting and coaching as well as high-level assurance with university policies and procedures. We are the primary provider of HR services for the IU School of Medicine in the following areas:

  • Talent Acquisition
  • Compensation
  • Employee Relations/Engagement
  • Performance/ Talent Management
  • Organizational Design

Job Summary

The Indiana University School of Medicine seeks a seasoned Human Resources Business Partner to serve as the primary HR partner for a client base of four clinical departments. HR Business Partners are considered the HR lead for their unit(s) and support their departments in the following ways:

  • Change management consulting
  • Developing HR strategy to support unit strategy
  • Diagnosing and defining department needs
  • Assessing Employee engagement and culture
  • Managing strategic relationships within the unit and across the university
  • Reviewing organization design and development
  • Talent acquisition
  • Performance Management and development
  • Workforce planning
  • Providing consultation on employee relations matters

In this highly visible position, you will be part of a transformative effort of delivering HR services within the School. This position is perfect for someone who excels at relationship building as you will partner with department leadership to develop and implement proactive strategies to address the department needs in the areas of talent acquisition, compensation, performance management, professional development, and organizational design. You will use your creativity and problem solving skills to resolve complex employee relations situations and develop programs to enrich the workplace and engage staff.

The successful candidate will have well-developed experience and demonstrated success in contemporary talent acquisition and management strategies and the ability to support multiple, diverse client groups. Will possess strong interpersonal skills, be able to influence others, build and maintain positive relationships, maintain confidentiality, effectively work with people of different cultures, and communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization both verbally and in writing. Will take responsibility for solving problems, making improvements, and delivering quality services with a customer-focused mindset in an environment that fosters understanding, collaborative teamwork and knowledge sharing.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in business administration, management, or a related field and five years of Human Resources experience in a US based organization with previous experience working in a highly matrixed environment.

Skilled in interpersonal communication, influence, building and maintaining positive relationships, and effectively working with people of different backgrounds and experiences. Ability to communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization. Ability to solve problems, make improvements, and deliver quality services with a customer-focused mindset in an environment that fosters understanding, collaborative teamwork, and knowledge sharing. Ability to manage complex processes with little direction.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in a healthcare and/or academic organization. PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SCP. Master's degree in business, human resources or a related discipline.

Working Conditions / Demands

Professional office environment. Ability to move about campus between facilities. Extended periods of sedentary, computer work.
