Overview

The Manager, Accounts Payable provides managerial support and direction to the accounts payable team and processes through leadership, creative problem solving and solution development to an AP organization of approximately 20 associates.

Responsibilities

Oversee monthly Accounts Payable Activities (60%)

  • Leads, plans, and provides support to the accounts payable staff and processes
  • Oversees daily, monthly, quarterly and year-end accounts payable processes to ensure deadlines and goals are met.
  • Maintains policies and procedures, process narratives, and training documentation
  • Participates in the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process.
  • Interacts with various departments to ensure efficient processes, resulting in timely payments
  • Remains current on best practices and industry trends.
  • Conducts research, reporting analysis and special projects as requested.
  • Participates in various audits, including meeting with third party auditors and preparing documentation.

Project and Process Improvement (25%)

  • Works with Treasury to manage bank relations and develop payment solutions to reduce risk and provide efficiencies
  • Collaborates on development, maintenance and improvement of accounts payable systems and processes.
  • Develop reporting that prioritize work and provides insight aged items and areas of focus for staff

Leadership, Coaching & Development (15%)

  • Provides direction to accounts payable supervisors and reporting analyst, assists with training and evaluation of employees to enhance their performance, development and work product.
  • Encouraging others to seek opportunities for different and innovative approaches to addressing problems; facilitating the implementation and acceptance of change within the workplace.
  • Complete annual performance reviews with associates

Qualifications

Education and Work Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or related field preferred
  • 6 or more years of accounts payable or equivalent field experience
  • 2 or more years of leadership and management experience
  • Experience working with generally accepted accounting principles and accounting software
  • Must have large ERP AP system experience, as well as 1099 filing experience
  • Experience in Great Plains and Coupa preferable

Knowledge

  • Strong personal computer and business solutions software skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills for interacting accountants, clients, and upper management
  • Good communication skills for communicating with personnel and management
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good presentation skills for educating internal clients on accounting principles
  • Good planning and organizational skills to balance and prioritize work

5-7 yrs of AP experience, manage 3-5 people. Prefer someone that has supervised before. Will report to a director who reports to a VP.

A good fit is someone who has handled larger accounts (20M ), be comfortable being firm with customers, when needed (mature), close nit team, professional and relaxed culture, but fast paced, growing, changing all of the time.
