This position is responsible for the Knauf Insulation, Shelbyville, IN Plant 3 manufacturing site’s Maintenance vision, strategy and execution. The Facility & Maintenance Manager will work to establish a world-class maintenance organization with superior asset reliability and uptime to enable a safer, more profitable and increasingly more competitive manufacturing site. By proactively pursuing improvement opportunities, making data-based decisions, establishing measurable and repeatable performance to maximize effective use of assets and assist the business in meeting agreed production, cost and improvement targets in a sustainable manner the individual in this role will help drive operational excellence


  • Drive safety first by setting the example and driving preventative measures 
  • Oversee team member training completion and compliance
  • Participate in EHS related actions, to improve safety in own area
  • Foster a partnership culture with the operations teams focused on serving the site operations, implementing sustainable improvements to maximize machine uptime/Overall Equipment Efficiency and continuous improvement of maintenance practices and fundamentals
  • Maximizing the maintenance teams’ operating efficiency, trouble-shooting, root-cause investigation, countermeasure implementation, preventive/predictive maintenance activities while contributing to internal projects as well
  • Planning timely execution of Preventative Maintenance with the Maintenance personnel
  • Ownership of the site maintenance budget (plan and execution of Maintenance Operational Plan)
  • Oversight of facility contract management
  • Supervision of direct reports (Maintenance Supervisor, Maintenance Planner)
  • Provide coaching and leadership for the Facility & Maintenance organization of about 20 people (indirect reports)
  • Manage SAP PM system for data integrity and compliance
  • Report and drive leading and lagging maintenance KPIs
  • Support new product development and improvement by reviewing new product plans, discussing equipment needs and modifications with Design Engineers and coordinating activities of Technicians and workers fabricating or modifying machines, tools or equipment
  • Provide proper distribution of utilities throughout the plant by ensuring proper maintenance of these systems; control operation of the building utilities systems as needed
  • Coordinate/supervise Maintenance personnel's role in rebuilds
  • Schedule machine clean-outs and coordinate maintenance activities during clean-outs and preventative maintenance downtimes
  • Ensure that the Maintenance Department complies with all ISO 9002 standards established for the department
  • Manage Maintenance CAPEX projects as needed



  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or other technical field preferred; and
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in an Industrial Maintenance or technical field; and
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in an industrial manufacturing environment; and
  • Minimum five (5) years of management experience


  • Minimum ten (10) years of engineering/maintenance experience in an industrial manufacturing environment; and
  • Minimum five (5) years of management experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of maintenance and management principles involved in project planning, resource allocation and leadership techniques
  • Working knowledge of machinery and its design/use
  • Working knowledge of electro-mechanical systems
  • Knowledge of applicable codes, regulations and standards
  • Knowledge of process improvement methodology/practices
  • Knowledge of SAP preferred
  • Ability to ensure maintenance-needed repairs are completed on time across the Maintenance Technician team
  • Ability to communicate effectively throughout the Plant
  • Ability to make quick, thorough decisions that will positively impact the organization
  • Ability to effectively manage, coach and train others, holding them accountable for goals that are set by Plant Leadership
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
  • Ability to handle multiple responsibilities under limited supervision
  • Ability to complete all tasks in a safe manner as at all times
  • Ability to drive equipment reliability, accessibility and maintainability
  • Ability to work in a proactive manner, identifying areas of opportunity or potential issues that may arise before they happen; report possible problems/issues to Manager, Engineering or Plant Manager
