DENTISTRY-FACULTY PRACTICE (IA-DSFP-IUINA)
The Indiana University School of Dentistry has been advancing oral health in the state and beyond since 1879, when it was founded as the Indiana Dental College. Over the past 140 years, we've become a national leader in preparing oral health professionals, conducting innovative research that has an impact on patients and the profession, and providing patient-centered care.
This clinic is open from 8am-5pm Monday-Friday.
- Provides oral care such as dental prophylaxis, scaling, radiographs, and sealants to patients and offers preventive education material to assist with developing and maintaining good oral health.
-Delivers direct patient care using established dental hygienist procedures. Performs dental prophylaxis, scaling and root planning. Develops and implements individualized dental care plans for patients.
- Takes digital radiographs.
-Uses patient screening procedures to include medical history review and dental charting. Records and reports pertinent observations.
-Sterilizes instruments and sets up and prepares dental equipment and instrumentation in accordance with established regulations and guidelines.
- Perform preventive care with pit and fissure sealants.
Certified Dental Hygienist.
Current Indiana Radiology License.
Ability to effectively communicate and exchange information.
Working Conditions / Demands
Majority of time spent in a stationary position. Must be able to manuever through the clinic and in dental operatories. Must be able to handle and operate dental equipment and necessary supplies. Must be able to operate a computer and appropriate patient notes/scheduling software. May need to move supplies from other areas in the school-this could include pushing/pulling a cart and lifting boxes to stock supplies.
Annual TB test and up-to-date immunization records required.
