INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS (IN-INTP-IUINA)
The Office of International Affairs (OIA) is the hub of international activities at IUPUI.
We work with people and organizations on campus, in Indianapolis, and throughout the world to:
- Graduate students able to operate in a globalized world with skill, wisdom, and responsibility
- Facilitate international engagement and partnerships
- Recruit and enroll international students
- Provide transition support, expert advising, and visa services for international students and scholars
- Oversee IUPUI's study abroad activities
- Support international teaching and learning —for example, through use of the Global Crossroads videoconferencing lab
- Increase intercultural understanding through events and programs , including the International House
The IUPUI Office of International Affairs is hiring a part-time (20 hours/week) Program Coordinator to help with the administrative and programmatic logistics of the Building Global Learning Foundations: Developing Global Engagement Pathways for Freshman and Transfer Students project. This is a three-year project funded by a U.S. Department of Education UISFL (Title VI) grant to advance global learning at IUPUI and Ivy Tech Community College by internationalizing the first-year experience and introducing students early in their college careers to global engagement pathways.
These global engagement pathways will be created by 1) integrating high-impact global practices in the first-year curriculum and transfer orientation, including in world language courses, 2) providing high-quality and sustained professional development to faculty, and 3) training academic advisors and career counselors about the benefits of a global skillset. The goal is to provide equitable access to global learning for all, particularly to those who may not have access to global learning, such as transfer and underrepresented minority students.
The Program Coordinator will manage the logistics, scheduling, and organizational details of a this federally-funded project and will provide logistical support for professional development workshops at both locations and will assist with reporting and payment processing. This is an important position, as it will be responsible for coordinating activities across the various constituents and collaborating units for this innovative initiative. The coordinator will be based in the Office of International Affairs at IUPUI and will report directly to the Associate Vice Chancellor of International affairs, who is the PI of this grant.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Primary point of communications for project stakeholders.
- Responsible for daily logistics of the project, including communicating with IUPUI and Ivy Tech faculty and staff participants in the project to ensure they are receiving appropriate support and resources.
- Gather and organize data for reporting purposes, including collecting required data for federal reporting and preparing annual reports, and maintaining records for faculty payments, reimbursements, and disbursements of grant resources.
- Schedule and coordinate the logistics of professional development workshops and project meetings.
- mmunicate directly and regularly with both PIs and managing directors, as well as the financial processor in the Office of International Affairs.
Strong skills in project management, grant administration and budgets, event management, interpersonal and cross-cultural communication, organization, and writing and editing. Ability to multi-task and balance attention to detail with efficiency.
Graduate study, experience, and/or passion in promoting global learning, curriculum development, and global studies/foreign language instruction. Experience and knowledge in higher education, particularly Ivy Tech and IU systems, as well as specialized experience in creating access for underrepresented students.
Working Conditions / Demands
20 hours/week, Fall 2020 through Spring 2023, approximately 42 weeks per year.
