The Indiana University School of Dentistry (IUSD) offers an extraordinary learning environment in which teaching, research, and community service come together in the best way possible for the preparation of tomorrow's dental professionals. The IUSD has 665 students, 110 full time faculty, 130 part-time faculty, 224 full time staff and 139 temporary hourly staff.

Job Summary

The Indiana University School of Dentistry is looking for candidates interested in working on a temporary hourly basis, up to 29 hours/week in patient accounts representative positions. In this role, you will be responsible for working with patients to collect information and monies for the dental services provided by the school.

Some duties include:

  • receiving payments and entering billing data
  • resolving patient accounts
  • posting patient and insurance payments
  • generating secondary insurance claims
  • reconciling daily reports for closing out the day's business
  • verifying and communicating patient Medicaid/insurance eligibility
  • analyzing reports for billing

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or GED and one year of related customer service/cashiering experience with some computer experience.

Ability to interact daily with numerous students, patients, co-workers, and doctors. Understanding of customer service. Ability to follow service standards and express financial obligation to patients. Ability to follow through with patient accounts is necessary to reach resolution.

Preferred Qualifications

General understanding of dental and medical terms including third party billing. Medicaid knowledge.

Working Conditions / Demands

Extensive sitting, standing, walking, pushing, stooping and reaching, lifting and carrying stacks of charts. Extensive use of computer and keyboard. Ability to explain insurance benefits to patients. Extensive phone use.
