We are seeking an ambitious post-doctoral scientist with exceptional research skills to contribute to highlyvisible research projects at Lilly.   Your work will focus on the development of cell based and analytical assays to support the clinical development of gene therapies.Specifically, you will have an opportunity to:

  • Design and develop assays to study various stages of AAV life cycle that can be used to assess the quality of AAV product 
  • Ability to design, execute and interpret complex virology-based experiments.   

  • Contribute to the general scientific community through external publications 

  • Keep abreast of relevant scientific literature/new technologies/capabilities  

  • Provide internal/external influence. 

  • Ensure work and team activities are aligned with all relevant development quality and safety requirements. 

This role will be embedded in Lilly’s Medicines Innovation Hub (MIH), which serves as leading-edge scientific unit working across all disease areas to identify and develop quality targets, hits, leads, and drug candidates.

Basic Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in virology, immunology, molecular biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, biology, or related field 

Additional Skills/Preferences

  • Expertise in viral systems such as Adeno-associated virus 

  • General knowledge in molecular and cellular biology tools such as PCR-cloning, transfections, transductions, lentivirus, cell-line cloning, FACS analysis and sorting 

  • Problem solving and decision-making.

  • Demonstration of scientific and people leadership skills. 

  • Effective oral and written communication skills. 

  • Must be able to work productively in an interdisciplinary team environment. 

Additional Information

  • This position is not permanent. It is for a fixed duration of two years with potential to extend to 3 years and for maximum of up to 4 years. You will have opportunities to apply for full time positions after your duration is complete.
