The Program Manager serves an integral role in the leadership of the Longitudinal Early-Onset Alzheimer's Disease (LEADS) consortium. At a funding level of $52,000,000, this ground-breaking study is the largest single grant to be awarded to IU School of Medicine to date. It involves a complex human subjects protocol, 25 separate outside contracts, 2 industry partners, and several external entities that collaborate with IU on the study. The future direction of the study includes at least two supplements from NIH at a funding level of roughly $10,000,000 and adds brain banking, additional imaging, and a Pathology Core to the grant. Additionally, we plan to expand enrollment internationally.
This position provides overall financial and administrative management of the consortium, directing and performing activities related to the post-award phase of extramural funding and serving as liaison to all coordinating sites and cores. A major responsibility within operations is to oversee fiscal management of the LEADS project, ensuring that all funds are used in accordance with federal, state, university, departmental and other relevant policies and requirements. This will include responsibilities on both the planning and execution side. For planning, this position will participate in the development of overall financial planning and program level budgets as well as project specific planning and oversee the establishment of research and purchasing contracts for the center. For the execution, this position will serve as primary approver for all LEADS expenses, overseeing the management of all grant accounts, division accounts, and philanthropy accounts. This position will serve as primary contact for the various department fiscal management teams and grant managers involved in the LEADS consortium, foundation and other accounts. This position will serve as the primary resource and consultant for 21 consortium site PIs, site administrators, and other staff and faculty regarding all grants and regulatory activities including funding opportunities and agency-specific or institutional research guidelines, policies and changes therein.
Bachelor's degree and five years of experience in program administration, IRB, research compliance, and/or contract and grant administration.
Combinations of education and related experience may be considered.
Understanding of human subjects research and its associated regulations, contract and grant administration from pre to post award. Ability to communicate with diverse populations on sensitive topics and interact with government officials/sponsors/external entities. Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to take responsibility and resolve problems. Decision-making capabilities. Ability to articulate complex situations and prioritize. High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
