The Department of Pediatric Safety Education and Outreach at Indiana University School of Medicine is seeking a Project Manager and Instructor. This position manages and directs education responsibilities for all child injury prevention programs provided through the Safety Education and Outreach Department.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
•Education: Responsible for developing and conducting injury prevention assessments and education for Indiana physicians, multi-disciplinary hospital staff/health care providers, government agencies, and families. Responsible for being an expert on all safety topics relevant to child safety and injury prevention and for being continuously up to date on best practices, technology and innovations in the field of injury prevention. Develops injury prevention education resources, tools, assessments, and hands-on-training modalities. Conducts and interprets safety assessments and provides injury prevention solutions for unique situations. Provides education at statewide outreach events focusing on injury prevention. Outreach events include safety education presentations, resource fairs, professional conferences, and community events such as Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Safety Day, Lawrence Municipal Safety Festival, Neurosurgery Brain Bolt, Riley Newborn Intensive Care Unit Resource Event, Down Syndrome Indiana, Early Childhood Latina Conference, and Marion County Department of Child Services events.
•Project Management: Injury prevention program development, scheduling, and logistics for complex safety programs including program implementations and resource materials encompassing child passenger safety, car safety, safe sleep, sun safety, water safety, fire safety, home safety, bicycle safety, personal safety, poison safety, bus safety, pedestrian safety, personal safety, special needs safety, senior safety, and emergency preparedness. Develops community partnerships to create and implement safety programs.
•Safety Store Operations: Duties pursuant to successful operation of The Safety Resource Center and The Safety Store, a division of Safety Education and Outreach, at Indiana University School of Medicine. This includes but is not limited to knowledge of over 150 safety products, their proper use and installation, education materials and resources for injury prevention. Uses point of sale system, responsible for inventory management, and receives/unpacks stock.
