Job Summary

The Purchasing Manager develops, implements, and manages institutional contracts and procurement services for acquisitions within the Information Technology commodity that support the educational, research, and service missions of Indiana University. Performs the function of Business Agent for the institution ensuring compliance with legal, contractual and ethical postures in support of the University. Initiates, negotiates, develops, monitors and audits University contracts together with Requests for Proposal, pricing agreements, and/or service standards, finance options, vendor performance, and other responsibilities for all IU campuses. Enforces contract compliance, policy compliance, and compliance with federal, state and other laws and regulations.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and three years of administrative experience in areas of purchasing, contracting, or finance.

Skills in organization, communication, project management, writing and editing, managing relationships, and customer service. Ability to handle multiple priorities and to understand and prepare complex contractual documents. Ability to deal effectively, collaboratively, and ethically with people from all constituencies internal and external to the university. Familiarity with information systems and office technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a business or management related field. CPM, CPSM, or CPPO certification.

Working Conditions / Demands

Standard office environment including any variety of environments encountered at the University, its campuses, physical holdings, and those of manufacturers and suppliers to IU including computer, copier, fax machine, scanner and telephone.
