This position will provide consultation in the area of transition services on a team of experts in the field of neurodevelopmental and behavioral disorders. Provide a range of consultation and follow up services at the Center, as well as in the community. Provide basic resource and learning materials to consumers, caregivers, and providers. Create tools utilized to support implementation of evidence-based practices. Assist in research and student training activities. Conduct ongoing workshops and trainings to a range of consumers.
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assist in the development, preparation, and implementation of outreach trainings provided within the context of the HANDS in Autism program.
- Assist with the dissemination of basic educational materials and research literature to help educate caregivers/staff/professionals.
- Provide innovation in service delivery with development of workshops responsive to the expressed needs of the community and State.
- Provide consultation to individuals, families, and providers regarding appropriate and effective academic, vocational, and functional programming within home/community settings.
- Conduct vocational, functional, cognitive and other related assessments for consumers of HANDS as necessary. Administer standardized and non-standardized tests and measurements to assist in identification of appropriate goals for programming. Participate in multidisciplinary team evaluations as needed to aid in the completion of a comprehensive evaluation of children seen with this service.
Bachelor's degree in special education, education, psychology or mental health, or a related field and one year of experience working with individuals of transition age.
Understanding and philosophical appreciation for team and community interventions. Ability to work as a team player. Ability to effectively communicate with staff, parents, providers, employers, and other consumers. Ability to present professionally, and maintain accurate and organized records. Ability to work with a high level of independence and demonstrate a high level of innovation. Strong organizational and multitasking skills including the ability to manage multiple priorities. Ability to think clearly under pressure and make appropriate judgments. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to work with minimal supervision or feedback and deal with difficult clients/families/consumers while meeting deadlines and carrying out responsibilities.
Master's degree in a health or education field. Experience working with individuals with autism spectrum disorder and/or related neurodevelopmental disabilities at secondary and/or post-secondary level. Licensure (LMHC, LCSW, licensure in special education).
